Joshua man faces drug charge a 30-year-old Joshua man, Adam McDonald, was arrested Wednesday by STOP Task Force for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance 4g to 200g and will go before Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Judge Ronny McBroom today. in Thursday magistrations, Courtney Walker, 28, of Joshua was arrested on a Tarrant County warrant for theft of property $50 to $500 by check and held without bond. Jherri Stancil, 26, of Burleson was charged with theft of property $50 to $500, $500 bond. Tracy Buzzard, 36, of Burleson was arrested on a Tarrant County warrant for theft $20,000 to $100,000, $10,000 bond. Spencer Parker IV, 23, of Grandview was charged with possession of marijuana 4 ounces to 5 pounds insufficient bond, $20,000 bond. Incident Reports Johnson County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a reported burglary Tuesday on Farm-to-Market Road 1434 in Cleburne. Unknown actor entered residence and took jewelry including a gold wedding band with diamonds valued at $3,000 and gold anniversary ring valued at $2,000. — Pete Kendall

Hill College students attend career day at the races Hill College Johnson County Campus welding and automotive students recently participated in Youth and Education Services Career Day at the races sponsored by the U.S. Army. the event took place at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis and was the fifth year for the students to participate. the students toured the pits and talked to drivers along with racing team members. Inside the pit area, students were able to watch teams troubleshoot and diagnose their race cars. they watched engines being torn down and reassembled on the spot which benefited the automotive students while the welding students appreciated seeing welds that were done to create the frames and bodies of these race cars.   "this was a great opportunity for our students to see a different side of the trade they are learning," said Welding Coordinator Brian Bennett. For information on Hill College welding or automotive technology, visit www.hillcollege.edu. — Special to the Times-Review Johnson County history book now available the almost 900 page reprint of the "History of Johnson County, Texas" book is now available. the first half of the book contains articles and photographs of the communities in the county. many of those small towns no longer exist. Hundreds of family histories fill the pages of the second half of the hard bound book. the book has been out of print about 15 years. During the research and writing of the first edition, published in 1985, volunteers across the county and members of the Johnson County Creative Writers Club helped to compile many of the community stories. Books may be purchased at Walgreen's in Burleson and Cleburne, the Layland Museum, Accents, Bennett Printing, the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce and Rowlett Hardware in Rio Vista and Cleburne. More locations will be available soon. — Special to the Times-Review Burleson man prepares for deployment Army Spec. J.C. Speck has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. the soldier is a member of the 413th Civil Affairs Battalion in Lubbock. the soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. they go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment. Speck, a civil affairs specialist, is the son of Danny D. Speck of Burleson and Laura M. Duesterhaus of Lorenzo. — Special to the Times-Review Meals-on-Wheels conducting volunteer mixer Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties invites the community to its fall Volunteer "Mixer." the mixer is for anyone interested in learning more about the Meals-on-Wheels program. or, those already involved are invited to come for fun and fellowship. the event sponsored by Healthsource Chiropractic of Cleburne will be held from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the first National Bank Wilshire Room, located at 740 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. in Burleson.    "Come and bring a friend," said Whitney Patterson, volunteer coordinator for Johnson County. Meals-on-Wheels currently has 15 delivery routes in Cleburne, and needs volunteers to help get noontime meals delivered Monday through Friday. Volunteers are provided with detailed directions and instructions, and help when they can, whether it is weekly, a couple of times a month, or simply on an as needed basis. Let Meals-on-Wheels know if you are attending the mixer, or would like more information about services or volunteering by contacting their offices at 817-558-2840 or by e-mail at  info@mowjec.org. — Special to the Times-Review Halliburton's annual charity motorcycle ride set for Saturday Halliburton-Alvarado's second annual charity motorcycle ride benefiting the Wings of Hope Equitherapy Center will be held Saturday. this scenic ride, also known as "HallowWings of Hope," begins with kick stands up at 9:15 a.m. at Home Depot in Cleburne, travels though Johnson and Hill counties and ends at Wings of Hope in Egan, where the presentation of the funds raised will be made. Discounted lunches will be available at Willie's place in Hillsboro (Carl's Corner). all proceeds go to the Wings of Hope equestrian therapy program for children and adults with physical, mental or emotional disabilities.   Horseback riding therapy helps strengthen a person's muscles, especially the core muscles.
