THE FABULOUSLY MULTITALENTED/multi-award-winning and beautiful Beyonce is gracing the cover of the September issue of SELF magazine hitting newsstands today, and, believe it or not, she's talking about her charitable work and philanthropic endeavors that the public seldom hears about. We all know she is richer than rich, as is her rapper/businessman hubby Jay Z, but you never hear about her generosity and giving back. Here are a few quotes from that article:

"I've always felt that you should give because it's what you can do to help. You don't do it to get praised. for a long time, being quiet about what I did was a conscious decision. when you look around at all that's wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear," said the superstar.

She talks about how she donated her entire salary from the 2008 "Cadillac Records" movie to the Phoenix House, an alcohol- and drug-treatment center that she visited in order to research her role as Etta James.

Asked why she is speaking up now about her charitable work: "I've realized that sometimes it helps a cause more if I talk publicly about it. That's what increases awareness."

Other charities founded by her include the Beyonce Cosmetology Center that provide opportunities for recovering addicts to learn job skills; the Survivor Foundation, which she formed with Kelly Rowland in 2005 to help Katrina victims, and just last year, she became a spokeswoman for Girls Educational & Mentoring Services, which helps young women who have been victims of sex trafficking.

CAN YOU BELIEVE President Obama's $862 billion economic stimulus package has earmarked taxpayers' money for things like this:
