AUSTRALIAN'S film industry has been largely snubbed in the nominations for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).
Bran Nue Dae is the only all-Australian film to get a nod after it was included in the category for best children's feature film, while Tony Barry is the only homegrown actor to be nominated for his performance in the New Zealand film Home for Christmas.
Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole, a joint venture between Australian and US studios, will contest the award for Best Animated Feature Film.
Entries from the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and China dominated nominations for the fourth annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards as 31 films from 15 countries were recognised.
Tangshan dadizheng (Aftershock), the story of the devastating 1976 Tangshan earthquake that claimed more than 240,000 lives, received a record six nominations after becoming the highest grossing film of all-time in China.
Bran Nue Dae will go up against New Zealand film Boy in the children's feature film category.
Winners will be determined by an international jury headed by Academy Award-winning producer Lord David Puttnam and be announced at a ceremony on the Gold Coast on December 2.
