5 Things Matt Damon Was In
FROM 30 Rock to Aussie animations, Hits cover star Matt Damon gets around.
WILL & GRACEIn 2002, Damon guest starred in the sitcom as Owen, a rival who battles Jack (Sean Hayes) for a place in the Gay Men's Chorus. Damon is a riot as he sings and puts on his best “Hey girlfriend!" gay act. The twist: Owen isn't gay, he just wants a free trip to Europe. Jack ropes in Grace (Debra Messing) to seduce and “in" Owen. You can find some of Damon’s scenes on YouTube.
HAPPY FEET TWOToo new to have forgotten about, but too much fun to ignore. Damon and Brad Pitt are the comic relief in a movie that already has Robin Williams. The duo give voice to what the New York Post called a couple of “alternative lifestyle krill". That is, Damon's krill at one point suggests they should raise some kids and sings a Wham! song.
JERSEY GIRLMany have tried to forget Kevin Smith's Bennifer era movie, period. Damon cameos alongside Jason Lee as an incredulous PR executive who interviews Ben Affleck's character for a job. Damon also had a cameo in Smith's 1997 flick Chasing Amy as a publishing executive. You can find the scene on YouTube.EUROTRIPThis teens-gone-wild comedy is the last thing you'd expect to see Damon in, but he went to university with the directors and happened to be in Europe so gave them a day of his time to play a punk singer. “I lip sync,” Damon told Film Monthly. “I play like a Henry Rollins wannabe from the suburbs, with earrings and a shaved head." You can find the scene on YouTube.
INSIDE JOBDamon narrated this doco about what caused the global financial meltdown of 2008. It won the Oscar for Best Documentary earlier this year. He has also lent his voice to an upcoming doco on Lance Armstrong and this year's American Teacher, about troubles in the education system.
