The third-season finale of United States of Tara – which airs Monday on The Movie Network and Movie Central – actually kind of feels like a series finale. And it’ll have to be, since United States of Tara has not been renewed for a fourth season by its U.S. network of origin, Showtime.
Maybe the makers of the show had an inkling, and therefore crafted an episode that, when viewed a certain way and extrapolated a certain way, could be seen as a very realistic version of how this all was going to end up.
United States of Tara stars Toni Collette as a woman with dissociative identity disorder, i.e., multiple personalities.
Collette won an Emmy Award for the role in 2009.
In the finale, as Tara ponders extreme treatment options, her heretofore stoic husband Max (John Corbett) is pushed to the breaking point. ![]()
