Carrier IQ Hit With Negative Google Reviews
Well let's see….Carrier IQ, if it was going to be a business success, needed some customers, right? Obviously those customers are NOT the folks who own the phones on which their software is installed, so who could they be? So someone at Carrier IQ obviously asked itself….where can I sell a software that gathers tons of data about the activities of the phone owner and what selling points can I offer that wins their business?
One has to assume that the three best answers are (a) governments including police and national security authorities (b) phone owners and (c) marketers.
One question Sen. Franken would surely like answered: "Who are your customers?
Another: What are they paying you to provide?
Another: Why were phone owners not advised that this software was on their phones and what it was doing?
Another: Why were owners not given the option to allow Carrier IQ on their phones or not?
I am sure he will have lots more. I will be eager to hear the answers.
