HARRY Potter star Rupert Grint became the 'Passenger of Knackered Van' after his VW broke down in Welwyn Garden City on Sunday afternoon.
The Kimpton-based actor, 22, who plays Harry Potter’s side-kick Ron Weasley in the hit movie franchise, got into a spot of bother in Stanborough Road when his campervan came to an abrupt halt.
The Hogwarts hero’s woes did, however, delight eight-year-old Potter fan Millie Worcester, who managed to meet one of her idols.
Her sister Emma, 23, of Wellcroft Road, Welwyn Garden City, said: “My little sister is going through a Harry Potter phase right now so she was over the moon.”
She added: “The van was broken down at the side of the road and I said ‘that’s Rupert Grint’. So my little sister got a picture with him.”
She said despite the breakdown the former Watton-at-Stone resident was “really polite and happy” and ready to pose for the picture, although the ‘wizard’ was unable to conjure up a pen and paper for an autograph.
The pair left the movie star waiting for a breakdown company.
The final Harry Potter film The Deathly Hallows Part Two, is released on July 15.
