His funeral was Monday at Psalm 91 Church by the Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family received friends from Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mr. Owens was born on Dec. 6, 1924, in Stanley County to Iven Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. he retired from Billings Freight Systems and was a member of Psalm 91 Church. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War. he was a member of the American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13. he was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by his sons, Dan Owens of Salisbury and Hulin Wayne Owens of Lexington; his daughters, Wanda Ramsey and husband Art and Sedena Palmer, both of Lexington; his brother, Wilfred Owens; and his sisters, Letha Shoaf and husband, the Rev. Max Shoaf and Opal Rowe, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
