Right now I have a Johnson starters kit, and I have been playing for a year and a half. I have been looking at the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top (Heritage Cherry Burst) for a while now, and I went into Guitar Center and played one and loved it. I loved the sound and the finish on it. I'm just wondering if it is a good guitar for beginners.

Yup, they are decent guitars. you can always buy replacement pickups down the line for an even better sound.
