This great actor was born in Englewood, new Jersey and he was the youngest in his family which constituted of six children. at the very tender age of 16, he left his education to try his luck in the magic world of acting and movies. He started his career by acting in off -Broadway TV productions like Rain, Grease, over here, etc. In 1975, John Travolta won himself a place in the hearts of the TV audience by his performance in the super duper series 'Welcome back Kotter'. His awesome performance won him great critical acclaims in the TV production 'The Boy in the Plastic Bubble'.
John Travolta got his real breakthrough, International acclaim and fan following when Robert Stigwood signed him for a contract of 3 pictures. The first picture under this banner, 'Saturday Night Fever' catapulted him to the pinnacle of success and he became a disco king and an instant movie star. It was so critically acclaimed that this performance as the dancing star helped him earn the Oscar nomination for the best actor. This in itself proves the popularity and the success of the movie. His next musical hit under the same banner was 'Grease' and this too helped to further ascertain his position as the dancing star.
