Our favorite pirate has another movie in the works! Johnny Depp will be starring in the 1940’s remake of Lone Ranger, taking on the role of Tonto, the Lone Ranger’s Native American sidekick.

Depp is looking forward to reinventing his character and making him have a little more backbone. the actor, who is part Native American, hopes to change up the roles and give Tonto the lead in the partnership.

He recently told Entertainment Weekly:

I remember watching it as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, and going: 'Why is the f–ing Lone Ranger telling Tonto what to do?

The forever hunky 47-year-old, looking great at the premiere Pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger Tides, has been rumoured to co-star alongside Ryan Gosling. nothing is definite since the Social Network’s Arie Hammer is also a favorite for the part.
