Kirk Cameron is under fire for making a heavy statement against homosexuality.

The former Atheist-turned born-again Christian appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight earlier in the week where he reportedly called homosexuality “unnatural.” Cameron went on to call claim that marriage itself was as old as dirt.

Cameron said, “I think that it's unnatural. I think that it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.” He went on to say, "So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't."

Throughout the interview, Cameron went on to explain that even if his children came to him and admitted that they were gay, that he would proclaim his happiness for them, but instead would “sit down” to discuss the issue. Piers, unhappy with Cameron’s response, proclaimed that he would tell his children that he was happy that they were happy.

Cameron, in an attempt to defend his point, shot back, “I wouldn't say 'That's great, son, as long as you're happy.' There are all sorts of issues we need to wrestle through in our life… Just because you feel one way doesn't mean we should act on everything we feel."

GLAAD, now upset with the actor for his comments, released a statement. “Cameron is out of step with a growing majority of Americans, particularly people of faith who believe that their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be loved and accepted based on their character and not condemned because of their sexual orientation,” states Herndon Graddick, senior director of GLADD.

Graddick notes that being gay is not an attempt to “redefine anything” and notes the “increasing number of states recognizing marriage equality…”
