Mel Gibson was supposed to do cameo in THE HANGOVER PART II, director Todd Phillips was vouching for him but the cast and crew were against it and so the role or a Bangkok tattoo artist was then given to Liam Neeson. But Variety said that Neeson's cameo has been cut and reshot, he was recast by Nick Cassavetes, the director of the Notebook. if you're wondering why..

Just like the first movie, this sequel set in Thailand is about mystery/investigation comedy, trying to find the missing person, putting the puzzle pieces together, figuring out what happened the night before. so while editing, Phillips decided to cut the scene that followed Neeson's cameo which means Neeson's cameo no longer had the necessary, logical information to get the Wolf Pack to the next scene. and so they decided to reshoot the scene 3 weeks ago but Neeson was already busy shooting CLASH OF THE TITANS 2, thus they made a 3rd decision, recast Neeson with Cassavetes

"We were in a complete time crunch so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part," "he came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film. [I'm excited for everyone] to see the film. It turned out great."

THE HANGOVER PART II, not starring Neeson, opens may 26th, 2011
