Paris Hilton talks up new reality show 'The World According to Paris'
Paris Hilton says she's ready to show a new side of herself in her new reality show " the World according to Paris" set to debut in June on the Oxygen network.
"On 'The Simple Life', I was playing a character. Now people will get to see my real world, my friends, my house, my business," Hilton told reporters on Friday, according to Reuters.
"The Simple Life" paired Hilton with Nicole Richie for five seasons before getting cancelled in 2007. she then searched for a new best friend on the show "Paris Hilton's My New BFF," which started in 2008 and lasted two seasons.
In her latest foray into reality TV, Hilton is followed in her everyday life by cameras and captures moments with her mother Kathy Hilton and friends like Brooke Mueller, the estranged wife of Charlie Sheen.
"I would never have done a show like this five, ten years ago," Hilton said. "I wasn't really comfortable with myself. I have been through so much. I have nothing to hide. It's like, what else can happen? I was ready to show myself."
The socialite recently celebrated her 30th birthday, where her boyfriend Cy Waits recently surprised the hotel heiress with one expensive gift – a Lexus LFA sports car worth about $375,000.
She and Waits have been linked together romantically since about mid-2010 and were detained together in August 2010 in Las Vegas after officers detected a "strong smell of marijuana" coming from their Cadillac Escalade. They were later released.
Hilton pleaded guilty in September to misdemeanor cocaine possession and obstruction charges stemming from the case and is now serving a year of probation.
Executive producer of the series, Arthur Smith, told reporters, "She really is so down to earth. she goes through things that every woman goes through — so many relatable things. she is also really funny and likes to have a good time."
"The World according to Paris" is set to premiere on June 1 on Oxygen.
