All eyes are on the prize when it comes to celebrity appearances at the many award ceremonies. It is fascinating to see what the rich and famous are wearing as they cruise down the red carpet, and their selection of glamour wear is often emulated in the fashion magazines. Jessica Alba was seen recently at the premiere of My Bloody Valentine wearing Dolce and Gabbana's silk pyjamas. This 1950s style outfit in black has striking white piping to the edges and sash tie to the waist.

At the largest and most recent red carpet affair, the Screen Actors Guild, a plethora of stars turned out for the event in stunning evening wear. Eva Longoria Parker of Desperate Housewive's fame was dressed in a delicate peach Jenny Packham ruffled dress, while Robins Wright Penn was seen in a simple black satin strapless number by Dolce and Gabbana. Laura Dern appeared on the red carpet dressed in tailored Burberry, a sleeveless black dress with fitted bodice, single pleat below the waist and piping to the fitted body. Kyra Sedgwick, wife of Kevin Bacon wore a classic vintage Chanel dress in black and white and presenter Claire Danes opted for vivid red Nina Ricci with a stylish fitted chiffon dress with Jimmy Choo platforms. Amy Poehler chose Robert Cavalli with a floaty and low cut cream dress with stylish brooch detail. Diane Lane looked fabulous in a David Meister dress in tomato red, extremely close fitting and with plenty of diagonal pleats and wide halter neck. Kate Winslett was a winner in a cobalt blue curve hugging Narciso Rodriguez evening gown and Chopard jewellery. Anne Hathaway glittered in a cream crystal encrusted Azzaro dress and Cartier diamonds. Christina Applegate wore apple green draped Emmanuel Ungaro with glitzy Daniel Swarovski clutch bag and Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.

The beautiful Angelina Jolie wore a cornflower blue Max Azria gown with Tiffany and Co. jewellery and Christian Louboutin shoes. Katie Holmes wore a simple but stylish Jill Sander one shoulder sheath dress with Stuart Weitzman shoes, while Penelope Cruz wore a sparkling black gown by Azzedine Alaia with a Felix Ray clutch bag and Chopard diamonds. Amy Adams chose a gorgeous deep purple Giambattista Valli gown with frilled bow to the waist, which offset her firey hair tone perfectly. Taraji Henson showed off her curves with a white Herve Leroux halter gown and H. Stern jewels, while Freida Pinto wore a soft shade of blue with her choice of flowing Marchesa evening gown and Roger Vivier heels. Laura Linney donned a coral one shoulder gown by Michael Cors with a dainty Tods clutch and Cathy Waterman jewellery. Olivia Wilde looked stylish in old Hollywood style cream satin gown by Ralph Lauren accompanied by Cartier jewellery. Presenter Rosario Dawson wore a fabulous ruched satin ivory Dolce and Gabbana gown with Jimmy Choo heels and Marcia Cross looked dramatic in an extremely striking black and navy satin strapless Carolina Herrera gown with ruffles aplenty and Lorraine Shwartz sapphire jewels.
