Skyline 2010 – Movie Review
Skyline starts as a story of two close friends, who are in different professions, live in different cities, lead very diverse lives and have very different ideologies of life. Fate unites them, but for a common cause and a mission to save mankind from the invasion of aliens who are bent upon destroying the human race. That's what director-duo of Brothers Strauss has in store for their viewers and to a certain extent is successful in delivering the same.
Terry, played by Donald Faison, actor of many top Movies, runs the business of special effects in Hollywood movie industry. Living with his girl friend, played by Brittany Daniel, in Los Angeles, he is set to celebrate his birthday and invites his close friend Jarrod along with his girlfriend Elaine to Los Angeles. the duo arrives in Los Angeles for the celebrations and Terry's girlfriend shows her bitchy attitude, but is ignored by Jarrod (played by Eric Balfour, the top Movies actor) and Elaine (played by Scottie Thompson, another top Movie actor).
Then happen the inadvertent landing of the aliens, who have come to Earth with a special purpose in mind. the aliens have researched and found that their brain cells and those of the humans living on the Planet Earth are the same. the aliens have also researched that they can increase their brain power by mixing Earthling' brains with their own brains to become more powerful. hence they land on Planet Earth and resort to mass killing of the humans with their Blue-Light. here, Brothers Strauss, who have had the opportunity of directing some top Movies in Australia, are quite not sure about the technicalities of the brain transfer technique adopted by the aliens, so they simply give this aspect a miss and do not show the actual process.
The Blue Light can only kill when one looks directly into it but the blue rays it emits are so attractive that one is forced to look into it and is absorbed by the blue light. the aliens then take out the captive's brain and mix it with their own to gain more strength. the humans find themselves helpless before the aliens and the police have no clue of tackling this all powerful force of aliens, who are hell bent on destroying the humans for their own greed.
How the two friends are able to save the human race from these menacing aliens, is a climax best viewed in theatres. the Sci-fi scenes shown by the directors and their CGI team are good. if you like top Movies like Independence Day, this one is for you, don't miss it.
