The screenplay is written by Timothy Dowlings and Simon Kinberg, who also produces. The combination of ribald romantic comedy and action is illustrated by their respective credits, as Dowlings contributed to this year's Adam Sandler vehicle Just Go With It, while Kinberg's resume includes X-Men: The Last Stand, Sherlock Holmes, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, to which This Means War bares some perhaps superficial resemblance. McG, the Charlie's Angels and Terminator: Salvation director who cut his teeth on many a famous music video, helms the film.
Obviously, this movie revolves around its three charismatic leads, but the supporting cast includes Angela Bassett, Til Schweiger, Abigail Spencer, Laura Vandervoort, David Koechner, Rebel Wilson, and Chelsea Handler, playing the requisite best friend who provides comedic relief.
This Means War lands shortly after Valentine's Day, on February 17, 2012.
