Starbucks Vs Dunkin Donuts – Choose Your Side

Starbucks Vs Dunkin Donuts Choose Your Side Image

Millions of Americans start each day with a strong kick of caffeine from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Which is better? Sure you may have already taken a side in this debate but let's go over the contenders and see how they square up.

I used to work at Starbucks myself, but am not in the Starbucks camp when it comes to coffee. Sure, I can appreciate the exotic beans and the notes of this or that that I am supposed to appreciate in my cup of coffee but when I mix in cream and sugar I could care less. Starbucks is the nation's champion of coffee shops inhabiting every city corner and many small towns. Nevertheless, Dunkin Donuts existed before and this old contender has some benefits that can put a hole in a donut:

Dunkin Donuts:

o More Donuts than Starbucks!… Does Starbucks have more than one doughnut?

o 24 hour locations – Starbucks tends to close early. Not all Dunkin Donuts are 24/7 but a few is better than none and a welcome retreat for someone who cannot sleep.

o Coffee – sure their coffee is not from Costa Rica or a remote mountain, but let's face the facts: it's smooth, consistent and not confusing.

o A cup of coffee is just that and not a sentence.

o Free Wi-Fi need I say more?

o Atmosphere – Dunkin Donuts tends to have more of a community feel to it. Here you will find your local elementary school teacher, firefighter and especially the police officers.

Starbucks.

o Gourmet food – Starbucks has the better gourmet food and healthier.

o Coffee – Coffee can be found in many rich flavors, from bold to acidic and so on and on and on.

o Starbucks coffee is definitely bitterer than Dunkin Donuts and in my opinion tastes burnt.

o A cup of coffee is a long sentence here. "tall half splenda skinny vanilla latte"… a lil early in the morning to be doing math and where is the verb in that?

o Wi-Fi – You have to pay for it. Get your coffee here and go to Dunkin Donuts to work.

o Great intellectual spot – Here you schmooze with people that think a bit more which is great when you want that smart vibe.

These are but a few of the arguing points for the two contenders. I love Starbucks for its atmosphere with smooth music in the background great gourmet food and smart crowd but I am an avid fan of coffee that is a bit more familiar. Dunkin Donuts wins the day for me on coffee not only because it's smoother but because at heart I know it's much closer to the cup of coffee I could have at home.
