A new trailer has hit the web today for Jason Statham's newest punch-em-up, Safe. Say what you like about these films, but while this isn't exactly a huge departure for the Brit hardman, Statham's filmography makes him the only good old fashioned action hero we have at the moment. Sometimes you get tired of flawed, deep heroes and just want to see an extremely tough man slaughter his way through waves of bad guys, so we will certainly be in line for this one.News from the Godzilla remake, with a new writer being added to the project. We have to admit to being pretty unfamiliar with the work of Max Borenstein, but with Monsters director Gareth Edwards at the helm we have faith in this being a decent retread of the Toho originals. No word on an official release date yet – the original intention was for next summer, but that won't happen now. Producer Brian Rogers has hinted at other monsters from the Godzilla universe being involved, so we are hoping to see a smackdown featuring Angilus, King Ghidra, and maybe even Jet Jaguar himself when this project firms up.Stephen King books are always ripe for adaptation, and following on from the recent news that Ben Affleck may be taking over directing The Stand, the rights to Rose Madder have been snapped up by Palomar pictures. It's a pretty mind-bending story, and certainly not a trademark King frightener, so seeing it on the big screen could go either way. Showtime's adaptation of the author's Under the Dome has a new writer, in the shape of Brian Vaughn. Vaughn wrote a large number of Lost episodes, so we couldn't be happier to see his name attached.Star Trek 2 may have found a villain, with JJ Abrams reportedly offering the role to Benicio Del Toro. Not much else is known at present, and the details of the role are tightly under wraps. More on this one as we hear it – anything Star Trek related gets us frantically looking around like meerkats. The Week In Geek ImageFinally, Ridley Scott has spilled the beans a little on the new Blade Runner project. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the legendary director has confirmed that the new film is "liable to be a sequel", and that he is close to finalising the writing team. In unsurprising news, Scott has made it clear there isn't much chance of a return for Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard.
