The week in style: HM fashion round-up, 11 November 2011
We'll be blunt, we love Emily Blunt. We love her husband, we love her acting, we love that her sister just got engaged to that nice looking fella from The Devil Wears Prada, but most of all, we love her clothes. Take, for instance, the Art-Deco-inspired Gucci number she wore this week, sheer loveliness. Still, there's no room for fashion favouritism in the HM style round-up – and Emily has had some tough competition…
The usual suspects have been out and about wearing expensive dresses in the name of increasing box office receipts this week… As per usual, Michelle Williams looked radiant in a gold structured strapless number with her 'Heath tribute' crop. Similarly shiny examples in metallics were Freida Pinto, Emma Stone, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson. Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood, Zoe Saldana and Camille Belle probably thought all glitters wasn't gold when they all turned up at the same event in similar Gucci numbers (well, it was a Gucci sponsored event).
On the dark front, we have a rare sophisticated appearance from Agyness Deyn in Rebecca Minkoff, the ever-hot Amber Heard in floor-length navy, Daisy Lowe breaking the boob and leg rule, Jennifer Aniston with boobs, Nicole Richie also with (possibly new?) boobs, and Kirsten Dunst in a leather Derek Lam. Sure, it's quite unflattering, but it's nice to see someone not playing it safe (and boy has she not played it safe before). Talking of which, what did you think of her Dolce & Gabbana tomato dress? It's from the SS 2012 collection so we've got a few months to get used to it.
Elsewhere on the brights front, we have Emma Stone, who we previously praised for her gold grecian Lanvin number, in orange. It goes against all scientific formulas, but ginger hair goes with orange marvellously, get used to it. We also have Olivia Wilde in floor-length red and then again in pink tulle – both lovely, Gwyneth Paltrow in green sparkles, Jessie J making a rare appearance on our fashion radar in leopard print, Katy Perry not so much in Jeremy Scott, Kate Bosworth in lemon, Florence Welch in a dusty net curtain (yeah, yeah, we know it's her thing), and Amber Heard again in floral.
Well done, girls. We might no longer remember what it is you're promoting, but at least you look lovely. Mostly.
