Tim Burton Eyes Robert Downey Jr For ‘Pinocchio’ Image

Tim Burton is at it again, planning to direct a new take on an old classic — "Pinocchio," in this case — and this time he wants Robert Downey Jr. to help him. Meanwhile, James Franco is ready to play "The Game," "Oldboy" is in search of a villain and the first image from "Lovelace" has hit the web.

Today is January 9, and you're tuning into today's casting call.

Tim Burton Wants Robert Downey Jr. For "Pinocchio"Tim Burton might have a lot on his plate between "Dark Shadows" and "Frankenweenie," but that's not to say he's not ready to look forward towards his future projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project that's most on his radar is an upcoming remake/sequel of "Pinocchio" written by "Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller. It apparently follows the puppeteer Geppetto on his quest to find his missing marionette. THR is reporting that Burton is eying Robert Downey Jr. for the role of Geppetto, though no official talks have started yet.

"Oldboy" Delayed, Needs A VillainThings are looking good for Spike Lee's remake of "Oldboy," but the film is still facing a few delays. Variety's Jeff Sneider is reporting that shooting on the film has been pushed back to late summer or early fall because of Josh Brolin's commitments to "Men in Black 3." In addition, he is saying that Clive Owen probably won't take the villain role he was offered, which means the flick is still on the hunt for a bad guy. Brolin is the only actor locked in to the project, with an offer out to Mia Wasikowska as well.

James Franco Eying "The Game"The Hollywood Reporter has learned that James Franco is in talks to star in the upcoming adaptation of Neil Strauss' "The Game." It will be written and directed by David Levien and Brian Koppleman. No word yet on when the film will head into production.

The First "Lovelace" Image Hits The WebIt looks like "Lovelace" beat "Inferno" to the first-image-premiered punch. Entertainment Weekly has the first look at Amanda Seyfried as porn star Linda Lovelace and Peter Sarsgaard as her husband Chuck Traynor. The two look to be newlyweds in the photo, which was taken during the film's current production. There is also a competing Linda Lovelace biopic being made called "Inferno" that stars Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon.

George Clooney Preps Fifth Directorial Project24 Frames has learned that George Clooney is planning on starring in and directing an upcoming adaptation of Robert Edsel's book "The Monuments Men." He'll reteam with "The Ides of March" producer Grant Helsov to bring the project to the big screen. The story follows a group of British and American museum directors, curators, art historians and more who risked their lives during World War II to prevent Hitler's destruction of precious art around Europe.
