Weekend area sports roundup: Peabodys late goal gets win over Swampscott »

Peabody senior captain Mike Chiappini scored his second goal of the game with 35 seconds remaining to give the Tanners (4-4) a big 3-2 home win over Swampscott. Tommy Burns also lit the lamp for the winners and assisted on Chiappini's game-winner along with captain Eric Costa. Sophomore defenseman Giuseppe Zarro and freshman left wing Eric Carney both had their first varsity points on assists while goalie Joe Powers made 29 saves.

Captain Gino Cresta scored twice for Swampscott (5-4-1) and Matt Videtta assisted on both. Patrick Sheehan came up big in the Big Blue nets, stopping 33 shots.

Masconomet 2, North Andover 1: Danny Crowther's goal with 1:36 to play snapped a tie and enabled Masconomet to snap its five-game losing streak while defeating the previously once-beaten Scarlet Knights. Alec DiGiorgio added a power play goal for the Chieftains (4-5); Vincent Zingarelli assisted on both goals and Matt Cardillo stopped 26 of 27 shots in goal.

Danvers 4, Salem 0: In his first career start, senior goaltender Zac Ingraham stopped all 13 shots that came his way as the red-hot Falcons (9-2) won their seventh game in a row. A.J. Couto, a junior wing, pocketed a pair of goals in the win while senior captain J.D. Hodgkins and sophomore Matt Flynn also scored. Senior defenseman Peter Marshall chipped in with two assists.

Salem (1-9) got 36 saves in goal from sophomore netminder Brett Harring.

aRCHBISHOP wILLIAMS 6, bISHOP fENWICK 1: The Crusaders (1-8-1) got their lone goal from captain Joe Shea with 38 seconds left in the second period, with linemates Mike Napolitano and Bobby Liberge assisting.

Beverly 3, Cambridge 0: The Panthers (5-2-1) were able to get the win, after previously tying Cambridge 2-2 earlier this season. Rachel Trocchi and Karen Hovey both had their first career varsity goals. Nicole Woods had two assists in the contest, Oliva Konaxis scored the other marker for Beverly and goaltender Jenna LoVasco stopped 14 shots.

Marblehead 4, Shawsheen 2: Keelin Fallon, Eliza Quigley, Rachel McKay and Ally Healy all found the back of the net for Marblehead (5-3-1). The goalie tandum of Aly Hopkins and Sabrina Doughman turned away seven shots.

St. Mary's 1, Austin Prep 0: Sophomore Lauren Skinnion (Boxford) stopped 14 shots in the shutout for St. Mary's (6-2) with Brittani Lanzilli scoring the game-winner on an assist from Alison Butler (Danvers).

Masco Sweeps Quad: Masco topped Beverly (45-30), Wakefield (36-22) and Malden (41-4) to bump its record to 10-6 overall. Nick Rizza won all three of his matches by decision for the Chieftains winning twice at 113 and once at 120 while Steve Jones (132) and Aydan Strachan (182) both won two matches by pin and one by decision. Masco also had double-winners in Chase Jefferys (106), Nick DiLibero (170), Aaron Zackon (138) and Ryan Therrian (160).

Beverly wins 1 of 3: The Panthers (11-5) fell to Masco, 45-30, and Wakefield, 42-32, but defeated Malden, 39-15.p Senior Kris Stefani (152) won all three of his matches while sophomore Joe Kozlowski (126), sophomore T.J. McGovern (138), senior Joe McDonald (145), junior Brian Tripoli (195) and junior Brian Perry (220) were double-winners for the Panthers.

Prep Wins Woburn Tournanment: The Eagles came in first place with 195 points, followed by Lincoln-Sudbury (138). Champions for the Prep include Louis Bornstein (106 weight class), Jared Costa (126), Ian Burtterbrodt (182) and Corey Jean-Jacques (285).

danvers 139.35, Hamilton-Wenham 122.15: Ronnie Levine placed first in the all-around for the undefeated Falcons (4-0) with a 36.55. Lauren Geiffler won the balance beam with a 9.1 and Leigh Famigliette contributed on vault with an 8.25.

Lynnfield 61, Bishop Fenwick 48: Despite the loss, sophomore Dom Luoni had a team-high 18 points, while Fran Hannon chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds for the Crusaders (1-6).

BB&N 44, Pingree 28: Junior co-captain Katlyn Oliver of Danvers scored a team-high 13 points while sophomore guard Haley Sabino of Topsfield added seven for Pingree (0-10).

H-W girls 4th at D4 State Relays: The Lady Generals finished fourth in the Division 4 State Relays as Emily Weigand, Emily Horgan, Emily Senning and Meg Blatchford broke the old meet record and set a new Hamilton-Wenham school record with a time of 9:39.9, which earned them second place. The three Emilys also had a fourth place finish with Evie Unsworth in the distance medley (13:03), Camilla Worsfold, Tess Obenschian, Lily Shiland and Robin Doroff were second in the shuttle hurdle (31.89) and Worsfold (4-9), Shiland (4-6) and Doroff (4-6) tied for second in the high jump relay.

Masco GIRLS strong at relays: The 4 by 800 relay team of Emily Wheeler, Mila Zernich, Mackenzie Shelgren and Paige Marsh was second for Masco with a time of 10:06.95 while Zernich, Lauren Drohosky, Kendal Pratt and Marsh took fourth in the 4 by 400 (4:15.06). The Chieftains distance medley team (13:17.20) of Shelgren, Drohosky, Maddy Goldstein and Lily D'Agostino was sixth while Taylor Teed, Kaleigh White, Julia O'Reilly and Paige Pratt were sixth in the dash relay (25.9).

H-W Shuttle Hurdle team takes 6th: Ian Thompson, Patrick Xu, Jack Chapman and Tyler Muller finished sixth in the shuttle hurdle with a time of 29.9 for the Hamilton-Wenham boys in the State Relays.

Beverly Boys PLACE 19TH AT d2 STATE RELAYS: The Panthers had three relay teams finish in the top six. In the high jump, Jay Richardson, Andrew Poveromo and Conor Leahy finished fifth. Harry Brown, Brendan Flaherty and Andrew Convicer placed sixth in the shot relay, while Flaherty, Brown and Convicer came in sixth in the 4 x 400 relay.

Salem State 5, Fitchburg State 1: Mark Macdonald had a pair of power play goals, Giancarlo Capodanno had a goal and an assist and Eric Defilice, Casey Terreri and Dan Smolinsky all assisted on two goals, allowing the Vikings (7-5-1) to prevail on the road. Chris Costigan added his first goal of the season and Derek Crocker notched his sixth in the win while goalie Ryan Sutliffe stopped 35 shots, including 15 in the third period.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Endicott 88, curry 79: Andre Makris had 22 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots while Lachlan Magee dropped in 20 as the host Gulls (9-4) pulled away in the second half for the win. Erik Gallo added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners while John Henault finished with a dozen points.

Salve Regina 73, Gordon 63: In a battle of Commonwealth Coast Conference unbeaten squads, the Scots were outscored by 11 points in the second half in falling at home. Alex Carnes had game highs in points (21) and rebounds (7) for Gordon while David Dempsey added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

ENDICOTT 74, SALVE REGINA 51: Samantha Crough had 23 points and eight assists and was one of four Gulls in double figures as the hosts won their fifth CCC contest in six games. Jennifer White (14 points and 3 steals), Kayleen Whall (13 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and 3 steals) and Jordan Ferland (10 points and 4 blocked shots) also had fine games in the win.

Salve Regina 62, Gordon 57: Despite a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds from Leanna Tallamy, the Scots dropped to 6-7 on the season. Aly Towle also had a fine all-around outing for Gordon with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
