Where to Find the Greatest Love
She loves me, she loves me not. I need more love. I can't give any more love. Love is in the air. Love Story. Love is dead. Where is love?
Songs and ballads, heart breaks and dramas, the world is occupied with love, yet can't seem to find it. Love appears to be so distant and hard to get, yet everyone yearns to have it. The world wants love yet they can barely define what love is.
The Yearning
The heart of our planet yearns for the filling with something it knows is there, yet can't define it nor grasp it. There's an emptiness in the human heart which every man, woman and child senses and strives to fill. Wars are fought, crimes are committed, hearts are broken and journeys are made all to find some fulfillment in life, to fill that hole in the heart.
Yet in spite of all our efforts many fail to come even close to knowing what this emptiness is and what we need to fill it. Many try religion, others try work and business, some try with music, and yet others with good works. Some may get a glimpse of what it is but on the whole most fail, only to realize that which they were striving for is not filling the gap. The emptiness remains.
What we all are seeking is the thing that preoccupies our minds: Love. Love is sought in song, in good works, in environmental activities, in other people. Again some may find it, but most fail and stay in their feeling of lost. Lost in a world of plenty and promise. Lost to love.
Love is.
What is love? Why do we seek it so desperately? Why do we yearn for its warmth and homely feeling? What drives us to give up all in order to posses it? And what makes it slip so quickly from our grasp?
Allow me to suggest an answer to your heart's yearning questions about love.
Love is. Love is what? you may ask. Love is. Love simply is. Love is the pure energy or life of the universe. Love is the driving force behind creation. Love is the connection to every person, creature and thing. Love the beginning of all things, and love is what is at the end of all. Love is the perfection of wanting the good for others, of seeking to do all to make Its creation flourish. Love is in the tiniest flower which buds in the light of the sun, in the tiniest creature crawling the Earth. It is in the skies under the wings of the greatest eagle, and it is in the eyes of the eagle seeking its prey. Love is life and all which nourishes life.
Love is the center of the universe. Do you want love? Do you seek that satisfaction of your inner longing? Then look within. Look inside your being. What is there? Look deeper than your physical flesh and bones. Look deeper than your thoughts and feelings. Look beyond your memories of the past and your hopes for the future. Look at the Source of your life, the very root of your soul. What is there?
Naked YOU
Once you've stilled your mind of all else what you will find is YOU. Nothing else. No labels, no hopes, no expectations, no fears, no enemies, no disappointments, no hurts, no death – only YOU – and Love.
As you see yourself as this perfect being of love, with no failure, no mistake, no hate, no weakness, but only acceptance of who and what YOU are, then you will begin to realize there is no more emptiness, no gap, no hole, no more yearning. You begin to see all life as an expression of the Source of Love, and you become love yourself.
You see, with all the stuff going on in your life you have not been aware of your ultimate and perfect connection to the Source of Life, which is Love, and in seeking to find fulfillment you have missed the answer in the stillness. In shouting out your protests and singing your songs, fighting your wars and failing in relationships you have missed the reason for the pain and emptiness. All your doings are the cause of the emptiness. Our activities are what have blocked the connection to Source, to Love. We have closed ourselves in our own little tight shells and we refuse to allow anything to break it open. You feel that shell is your security and you seek to defend it and find a reason for it.
Letting go
Let go of your shell. Step out of it. Release all the striving and yearning, all the seeking of satisfaction in others, in systems and philosophies. Let it all go. And open your heart to allow YOU to emerge. And as you do your life will flourish and love will fill your being, so that all that you do, every word that you speak, and every thought you think will be filled with love as you seek to nourish life in all its forms.
Do you love yourself? Self-love is the greatest love, for out of it comes a love for all things. See in you the Source of life and love and you will see the same in everyone you meet.
Self Love
When you begin to love yourself for what you are, what others are will become more apparent, even if they don't see it themselves. You will understand what is unconditional love, what it is to give to nourish and uplift, to help and encourage without expectation. You will know love as the most powerful force of all.
