Why are there much fewer short men-short women couples?

Why are there much fewer short men short women couples? Image

I see a lot of very petite women and tall men, and some short men with medium women often in public. I see some short men-petite women couples but very infrequently.

Is this because short men prefer medium and taller women OR because short women prefer tall men OR both OR something else?

By short I mean men (5'7" and under) and petite women (5'3" and under).

Because not everyone's a conformist going along with society's rules.
